Driven Brands Holdings Acquires Jack Morris Auto Glass

Longtime Memphis company Jack Morris Auto Glass has new owners.

Driven Brands Holdings Inc., based in Charlotte, North Carolina, bought Jack Morris Auto Glass on July 27 in a deal signed and closed after former owners Paul Morris and his brother John Morris decided the business needed to grow.

“We’ve had really explosive growth over the last few years,” said Paul Morris. “We got to a point where we had outgrown ourselves and were looking for ways to effectively serve our employees and our customers, and ultimately decided that the best and most efficient path for our customers and our employees was to make that our family business joins this great family of motivated Brands.”

Paul Morris said the company currently remains in an indefinite period of transition until Driven Brands takes full charge. Thereafter, the Morris brothers will have little power in the family business, except to encourage it.

Paul Morris’ grandfather, Benjamin Franklin Howard, founded the company in 1951 with the first gas station store at 663 Madison Ave. in downtown Memphis near Sun Studio.

Today, Jack Morris Auto Glass has 10 stores in the Mid-South with around 107 employees, which Paul Morris expects to grow with the new owners.

“I have mixed feelings,” said Paul Morris. “I’m super excited for our customers and employees about the opportunities they have with Driven Brands and I’m super excited for the company on behalf of my dad, for his legacy to continue. But I have emotions about the fact that this business has been in our family since 1951 and now it’s part of a bigger family that’s not just our family.”

Driven Brands owns companies such as Maaco, Take 5 Oil Change and Meineke Car Care Centers.

“Building and sustaining a business over generations is no easy task,” said Michael Macaluso, executive vice president and president of Driven Brands’ Paint, Collision and Glass Group. “We are proud to welcome another leading operator to our growing glass division, where we can apply our scale and resources to improve their operations and provide a platform for these talented people to continue to progress in their careers. We look forward to continuing Jack Morris’ legacy of exceptional customer service with our additional support.

“Their team was great to work with throughout the transaction process, and we believe Driven Brands is well positioned to continue Jack Morris’ legacy of satisfied employees and customers, said Paul Morris. “I am thrilled that Driven Brands is taking this business to the next level as they cultivate the exceptional talent of our team and help advance their careers while staying true to our longstanding roots and values.
